Handing it on to help the homeless 08/05/2010
Recently I have taken on the role as National Campaign Manager for the fantastic organisation, StreetSmart. StreetSmart tackles homelessness at the grassroots. They are a unique bridge between the community and small, ‘hard to reach’ agencies and projects that assist people experiencing homelessness or at risk. We support critical services and emergency aid as well as projects that promote social inclusion, empowerment and sustainable change for people who are homeless. When money is raised from the public through their restaurant events, 100 per cent of donations are distributed in the form of grants. To date we have raised and distributed over $1,180,000 to 272 grassroots projects. My job is to help get more restaurants recruited to the annual restaurant event. Anyone can help just be handing on the information flyer about the campaign to their favourite restaurant. Just print the flyer here. The lovely Sarah Wilson explains how easy it is the hand it on to help.
